The Gympie Music School of Excellence  recognises the outstanding musical talents of our students in a range of domains, and provides a suite of programs to support and develop  mastery performance skills and confidence in their given talent, as well as all facets of stage set-up and sound production.

The GMSOE commits to refining the skills and stagecraft of both individual students and /or ensembles through the rehearsal stage, building confidence to perform at the highest level both within and beyond the school context.  Performance opportunities include (but are not limited to) :  Whole School and Junior / Senior Secondary Parades, the Arts Gala Evening, the Annual Awards Evening, the Junior Showcase Evening, the Gympie Show, the Gympie Music Muster and of course, Eisteddfods.
Students enrolled in the GMSOE nominate their domain of development and are supported by school based and external specialist music practitioners, integrated both in curriculum and extra-curricula commitment.    Programs within the GMSOE attend to individual priorities and provide pathways to the Australian Music Industry.  Students further have the opportunity to undertake practical and theoretical  Australian Music Examinations Board exams (contributing to their Queensland Certificate of Education) , providing a pathway to the Conservatorium of Music.   Some of the more popular domains in the GMSOE include:

                            ♪   String and concert bands
                            ♪   Brass and woodwind
                            ♪   Soloists and acoustic duos
                            ♪   Vocalists
                            ♪   Contemporary Bands

Gympie State High School music programs have a proud history underpinned by our schools values of being Respectful, Responsible, Safe Learners.  As such, students who wish to apply to be enrolled (and remain enrolled) in GMSOE are expected to uphold our schools values, represent our school with pride, commit to extra-curricula activities and rehearsals, and be willing to  participate in new experiences and take risks – demonstrated through the signing of the GMSOE’s Good Standing Policy.

GMSOE is now offering students piano lessons.
