Uniform Policy
 
THE PARENTS' AND CITIZENS' ASSOCIATION AND THE SCHOOL SUPPORT THE WEARING OF THE SCHOOL UNIFORM.
 
All uniforms can be purchased from GSHS Uniform shop.
 
·         Uniform Shop is located in the Admin block and convened by Glenda Curtis-                                                                                                                       54898333
·         Open hours are : Monday, Wednesday and Friday  from 8.00 am to 10.00 am, Tuesday and Thursday from 8.00 am to 9.00am

FOOTWEAR
 
·         Black Shoes are the accepted shoe at GSHS. They must be fully enclosed (no ballet shoes, sandals, thongs, boots including ankle boots, excessive heel)
·         LEATHER/VINYL impervious uppers are required in practical areas for e.g. Home Economics, Agriculture & Manual Arts and in Science labs.
·         In some specialist subjects specific footwear is acceptable.
·         White or black sports or ankle socks or grey stockings (for girls)
 
SHOW TEAM UNIFORM
 
·     Chambray Shirt
·     School Tie
·     Leather boots and a hat
·     Show team polo shirt
 
SWIMWEAR
 
·         Girls – swimsuit in modest style
·         Boys - suitable swimwear for school activities.
 
JEWELLERY/MAKEUP
 
Heavy makeup is not permitted (in particular heavy eye makeup). CLEAR nail polish may be worn. Due to Workplace Health and Safety requirements, students can wear one plain ring, plain ear studs or sleepers, no chunky or excessive jewellery, one watch and school badges. (Eye, nose and lip rings are not permitted, however small clear studs will be tolerated), No visible anklets
 
HAIR
 
·         Hair will be naturally coloured. No bright colours such as pink, green or blue
·         Hair should be neat and tidy in a modest style — no outlandish fashions (block colours, Mohawks)
 
HEADWEAR
 
Students are encouraged to wear a hat for sun safety.
·         A Gympie State High Bucket hat is available from the uniform shop.
·         A Gympie High Formal Akubra hat is also available from the uniform shop.
 Other items of headwear (beanies, scarves, headbands) are not permitted.
 
FREE DRESS REQUIREMENTS
 
Appropriate Dress for “Free Dress Days” is clothing or apparel worn by students that —
·         Doesn't have offensive writing, advertising or pictures
·         Has covered shoulders
·         Covers midriff
·         Under Workplace, Health and Safety regulations students must wear enclosed footwear.
 
      If students are in incorrect uniform they will be required to change into a uniform provided by the school.  Continued non
       compliance of the uniform policy is a breach of the enrolment agreement and will result in parent interview with a member
       of Administration.
